Uranium mining
The prospecting and mining labors of minerals in areas with uranium deposits and the restauration of old, exhausted mines may give rise to radiological risks for the workers, the public and the environment. The permits for these activities are granted by the competent regional authorities in the areas in which these activities are carried out.
These concessions or authorisations are granted after a prior report from the Spanish Nuclear Safety Council setting the radiological criteria that must be applied during the period of validity of each prospecting permit or operating concession.
