Relations with other institutions
The Nuclear Safety Council (CSN) performs numerous activities in cooperation and coordination with various central government agencies with which the CSN shares areas of responsibility.
Its foremost relations are with the Ministry of Industry, in matters involving the regulation of nuclear safety and radiation protection. The Council also cooperates very actively with the Ministry of the Interior regarding the physical protection of nuclear facilities and emergency planning, preparedness and response. It works with the Ministry of Defence to strengthen cooperation with the Military Emergency Unit (UME). The CSN cooperates with many more central government areas as well, including the Ministry of Agriculture and the Environment, the National Weather Agency (AEMET), the Ministry of Public Works, in monitoring and controlling the transport of radioactive material, and the Ministry of Health.
