The Nuclear Law Committee (NLC) pursues the creation of stable, consistent national and international legal frameworks for the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, including the regulation of international trade of nuclear equipment and materials and the regime of agreements on responsibility and compensation for nuclear damages.

Its activities consist of developing, strengthening, modernising and harmonising nuclear legislation to be consistent with international treaties. The NLC aspires to be a reference centre for nuclear law information and education.
