Committee on the Safety of Nuclear Installations (CSNI)

Comité de Seguridad de Instalaciones Nucleares (CSNI)

The mission of the Committee on the Safety of Nuclear Installations (CSNI) is to help member countries of the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) maintain and further develop the scientific and technical knowledge base needed to evaluate the safety of nuclear reactors and fuel cycle facilities. The CSNI is made up of experienced scientists and engineers with responsibilities in safety technologies or research programmes, plus representatives from regulatory authorities.

The Spanish Nuclear Safety Council (CSN) participates in the main committee and its working groups, which address areas such as accident analysis and management, the integrity and aging of structural components, risk evaluations, human and organisational factors and the practical application of the lessons learned from the Fukushima accident. The CSN also collaborates on CSNI research projects and databases.
