Misiones Internacionales

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) coordinates international missions to review compliance with standards, requirements or good practices in nuclear safety, radiation protection and physical safety.

The Spanish Nuclear Safety Council (CSN) supports international review missions to other countries by participating in the top-level technical teams involved. Participation is one way of showing how committed Spain and the CSN are to these tools of peer review.

The CSN has participated in Integrated Regulatory Review Service missions (IRRS) to boost and strengthen the regulatory framework of the IAEA member states and in other missions targeting specific issues, such as the long-term operation of nuclear power plants and the national radioactive waste management system.

In addition, the CSN has received IRRS missions, and a mission to review the Spanish regulatory framework for the Radioactive Waste and Spent Fuel Management, Decommissioning and Remediation (ARTEMIS). Spain has been the first country to receive a combined mission IRRS-ARTEMIS
