Plants in the decommissioning stage in Spain
The nuclear and fuel cycle facilities in the decommissioning stage in Spain are those that have finished their production activities and have applied for an authorisation for their decommissioning and dismantling.
In Spain, the old Vandellós I and José Cabrera nuclear power plants, various facilities of the CIEMAT and various uranium concentrates manufacturing plants - the FUA (Andújar Uranium Mill), the Elefante plant and the Quercus plant - are in this situation.
In accordance with Spanish regulations, the Radioactive Waste National Company, SA (Enresa) is directly responsible for planning and carrying out the dismantling of nuclear power plants and for the final management of spent nuclear fuel and the radioactive waste generated. For further information, please visit the Enresa Web site (http://www.enresa.es).
